December 2023
- 18th - Saturday 16th December saw the last gig of the year for the band, at The Railway Tavern in Fishponds. It has been a while since we had played there and were looking forward to it. We have been working up a few new numbers to be ready and these were now in the set. On arrival, we played the "what goes where game" for the last time in 2023. Wishing Well was played to set everything up and then at 9.30 the thunder began. The new numbers fitted in with other numbers of the same ilk, the one exception was a song that we would, theoretically, only be playing once, maybe. This was our rendition of Slades "Merry Christmas Everyone", which went down really well, with the crowd in fine voice. We finished off with Hush and then the gear breakdown began and the journeys home for the band to the far flung reaches of Hushland. Our thanks to Sam and staff for making us welcome and you the audience for getting behind us and enjoying the night as much as we did. A great night and hopefully we will be able to come back and do it all again in 2024.
- 12th - Unfortunately, a typo error crept into the GIGS page. This has now been amended and updated.
- 9th - The nights are drawing in with Christmas in sight and Hush's last gig of 2023 at The Railway in Fishponds on the 16th December. The band has been working up a few new numbers that were going to be given an airing at The Bear, unfortunately with that gig being cancelled The Railway now has that honour. Hopefully, everyone will be in party mode and we can have some fun to bow out of this year.
- The GIGS page has now been updated for 2024. We still have a few dates left, so if you would like the band to come and play for you, please get in touch using the CONTACTS page.
November 2023
- 13th - A bit of bad news on the gig front. Due to a clerical error, the gig at The Bear in Weston-Super-Mare on the 2nd of December has been cancelled. This was a real shame as we had worked up a lot of new numbers into the set and were really looking forward to it. Hopefully, we are able to get a rebooking in 2024. Please watch the GIGS page for details. Our apologies if you were thinking of attending this gig. This means that the last gig of 2023 will be at The Railway in Fishponds on the 16th December. Hope to see you there. Its gonna be "FUN"
October 2023
- 8th - Midsomer Norton here we come. Saturday the 7th, saw the band at The Riverside, one of the bands favourite venues due to the playing area. Its a luxury for all, but still never enough room !!!. The set up took a bit of fiddling with leads and amps not doing as instructed, but we got there. Both sets went well and even though the Riverside is an apprecative listening audience, we were getting applause. Our usual thanks to Tony and his staff for booking us, and to you the audience for ignoring the Rugby World Cup and coming out to see us. Hope to be back with you in 2024.
- 8th - The band is now devoid of gigs until Decembeer. Check the GIGS page for details
- 1st - Saturday the 30th September and the Hush convoy travelled up the M4 to the Queens Tap in Swindon. Owing to the Rugby World Cup, we had a select window for setup amd sound check, so getting everything in up and running got the grey matter working. Nothing stopped us, speaker connectors that wouldnt fit and even a guitar strap got adapted. During the half time break we managed Wishing Well as the setup number, which got a round of applause and then it was silence until the final whistle and we launched into Perfect Strangers which got the audiences attention and remained so for the rest of the evening, with everyone getting into it. The Queens Tap never fails to dissapoint. Our thanks to Nikki and her staff for making us welcome, Status for doing the legwork to book us in and to you the audience for making it an enjoyable evening. Hopefully we will be able to come back in 2024 and there will be no sport shenanigans on, so we can play at our usual time. We all need our sleep !
September 2023
- 25th - Oooops. Our apologies. Only just realised that the website has not had an update and the INDEX was showing the wrong gig.. This Saturday sees the band travelling up the M4 to the Queens Tap in Swindon and then the following week to Midsomer Norton and The Riverside. WE have been working hard to be ready for these, so pop along, support us and your local pub.
- 25th - Also due to a double booking at The White Horse in Twerton, Bath this gig has been cancelled
August 2023
- 1st - Not a lot happening on the band front. We are still integrating Aidey into Hush and looking at a few other number to add to the set list and Aideys learning curve.
July 2023
- 16th - A wet and windy Saturday the 15th July, saw the band arrive at The Bear in Weston-Super-Mare. After unloading and getting the kit in betwen downpours, we carried on setting the gear up. Clive was using another of his electric kits, so the equipment was arranged to suit as it needed to be put through the PA. At this stage, there were already a few people and a sleepy Jack Russell Terrier (Ah Bless) watching proceedings and then the setup number. So there were brave souls out, even with the weather. Everything went off without a hitch and we all enjoyed it, and then it was time to break the kit down and go home. Never ever seems long enough. As always our thanks to the staff at The Bear, you the audience and lastly Terry, who stepped in at the last moment to get Clive to the gig. We will be back on the 2nd December and looking forward to it already.
- 16th - The band will be taking a few weeks off from gigging now due to summer holidays and also to look at new material and also a chance to settle down and take the pressure off after the recent guitarist change. And the Snowball continues to roll.
- 2nd -Saturday the 1st July saw Hush descend on Keynsham and the Trout for the second gig this year at one of our favourite venues. We heard we would be competing with the Keynsham Music Festival and another band in the Old Bank, did that daunt us "NO" bring it on !! After setting up the gear, we did Wishing Well as the set up number to make sure everythng was OK and got a round of applause, could this mean we could go home, not likely. Both sets were played with gusto and the audience were well into it and we even got in the customary two encore numbers to finish the evening off. As usual our thanks to Jackie and Jim for having us and their team for making us welcome and to you the audience, we noted some familar faces amongst you, thank you for coming. We hope to see you in 2024 !
June 2023
- 18th - A new venue for the band as well as a new guitarist in tow. .What could possibly go wrong. Saturday 17th June saw the band decamp to Trowbridge and The Stallards Inn. The playing area was cozy and the what goes where game was played to its fullest extant. Oweing to Clives trailer shedding wheels, he had to resort to his electric kit, so that took a bit of tooing and froing to make it fit. But it was finally done. Wishing Well was played a few times to get everything in place and got applause at the end of each. WOW !! Both sets went well, with two encores and all were very happy. Our thanks to Vicky and her team for making us welcome and to you the audience as you make it worth all the hard work. Hopefully, we will be back in 2024 !
May 2023
- 15th - Aidey now officially becomes a member of Hush with his Bio now on the website. Rehearsals are going well and we cant wait to unlease it at The Stallards Inn in Trowbridge on the 17th June.
- 6th - We made it !!!. After two failed attempts to play at the Golden Fleece in Bath, it finally happened and not only was it Coronation Day, but also Paul's last gig with the band. As with every new venue, the what goes where game was played to perfection and would we play it safe. Well, Hush aren't like that and decided that we would have a revamp to the set list for Paul's Swansong and I know by the way we were buzzing at the end of the evening, we all enjoyed ourselves. Judging by the reaction from the assembled throng, they did as well. Every thing is good in Hushland!!. As usual our thanks to Mo and her staff for making us welcome and to you the audience. Hopefully we will get the chance to do it all again.
April 2023
- 23rd - We have news on the guitar front. After checking the guitarist ads in musician’s website JoinMyBand.com, Mr Adrian Knighton was invited to pop along and see what happens. An interesting evening was had, and he has graciously accepted our offer to join the band. His bio will go on the band site shortly. Now the work begins, again!!. . It’s never boring in Hushland!!.
- 17th - Saturday 15th and Hush descended onto The Dolphin in Oldland Common, which was a new venue for the band. After waiting for the playing area to be cleared, the job of installing Hush began, with the what goes where game. It was all going well until power up time and none of the power points would play ball. The bar staff were totally perplexed as were the band. Without power we were sunk. However after a bit of double plugging, everything settled down and the setup number ran through to prove the electric would stay on for the rest of the gig. The evening went well, the one bugbear was that the audience could be counted on two hands, but we all had a fun evening and played for the hell of it and promptly finished at 11pm as requested. Our thanks to the staff as we had them running ragged trying to sort the electrics and to the members of public who were watching, we thank you.
- 10th – We have had some expected news. Due to increasing work commitments, Paul is reluctantly having to leave Hush. Being with us since 2019 has seen a couple of changes in the band as well as an epidemic and an energy crisis. You couldn’t make this stuff up. We are all sorry about his departure and even though it’s been a lot of fun, at the end of the day, unfortunately, the job rules the purse strings. We all wish him the best for the future. However, he won’t be departing straight away and has said he is able to do the gig on the 15th April and also the one on the 6th May, so we don’t have to cancel them and it also gives us time to find another guitarist.
March 2023
- 14th - A soggy Saturday 11th March saw Hush's arrival at The Riverside Inn in Midsomer Norton. The last time the band had played there was on the 9th February 2019, prior to the Covid 19 lockdowns which stopped us going back there in the following years after several failed attempts. Luckily, we all remembered how we had set up previously and that got carried out in short order. It was and interesting evening for us and went off without issue. The audience were responsive, but not over the top and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Our thanks to Tony, for having us back and helping move the pubs furniture around to get us in. To you the audience for supporting your local and lastly to our wounded soldier Pete, who only on Wednesday had had an operation on his shoulder, but still carried on. The Show Must Go On and we will be back in October 2023 !!!.
February 2023
- 26th - Saturday the 25th and Hush were at the Trout in Keynsham after not being able to play there over the last couple of years due to Covid 19. Being the first gig of 2023, the what goes where game was played and wasn't helped by the roadworks that are currently being done outside of the pub. It was a nightmare, with a forced route march from the car park in order to get the gear in and then taking it all back out again. However, we knew things might be fun for the evening when our setup number Wishing Well got a round of applause. The first set went OK, with a revamp of our set list and a couple of new numbers thrown in for good measure. As we started the second set a crowd of people came in and when we launched into House of the Rising Sun they all started singing, saved Pete having to do it, and they carried on to the end WOW!!!. For the first gig of 2023, we all had a brilliant evening and hopefully the rest of the year will be the same. Our thanks go to Jim and Jackie for booking us and Tracey and her team on the night for their assistance when required. Special thanks also to the "Choir" and all of you that were there. We really appreciate it. We will be back at the Trout in June.
- 21st - Things have got away from here in Hushland and the website has not been updated. Our apologies. This Saturday sees the band decamp to Keynsham and The Trout and the first gig of 2023. We are hoping it will be a cracker at one of the bands favourite venues.
January 2023
- 13th - Here we go again and on into 2023. We recently resumed proceedings in the studio after the Christmas layup and it all went rather well. We are currently looking at spicing up the set lists for 2023 and that is making the grey matter work at a rapid rate of knots. Currently, on the gig front, we have two or three dates left open for this year and expect those to go within the next month or so. We currently wont be doing many gigs this year, due to commitments that the band members have, but they are quality venues we like. So its onwards and upwards.
