29th - Due to the revamped Covid-19 restrictions and the regulations introduced after the 2nd December, we have to inform you that The Riverside gig in Midsomer Norton has had to be cancelled. We are all dissappointed, but totally understand. Also due to the tier system in Bristol our rehearsal studio is now only open to professional musicians. We are all hoping that it may be reviewed within the next two weeks as advised by the goverment, but we arnt holding our breaths and can't wait for 2021 to come around.
October 2020
20th - Well, we were hoping, but it wasnt to be. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, the Cross Keys at Hanham have decided not to hold any large band live music events at their venue for 2020. This means that our gig that was booked there for the 14th November has had to be cancelled. We are all dissappointed, but totally understand. In the current climate they have to protect everyone who visits.
11th - To all in Hushland, we hope you are all staying safe and trying not to let this very strange situation get to you.
This is just a quick update on the state of play for the band. As mentioned in July, we managed to get back into the studio and rehearsing for when we are able to get out playing live again. At present we are just four, as Martin got stuck in New Zealand prior lockdown with a work commitment. Workwise, we did manage to remember what instruments did what and as we have "some" downtime, songwise we are working on few that we have been considering to play for some time. We certainly aren't shirking away from learning new stuff and as soon as we are allowed out, we will be there, whenever that is!!
July 2020
16th - Pubs have now started to reopen, hooray I here you say, but unfortunatly due to the social distancing regulations, live music for the present is banned until it is deemed safe to do so. A tricky situation that all venues are now having to work to. So we have to announce that the gig at The Trout on the 8th August is a no go and has been cancelled. However there is some light at the end of the tunnel for the band. Our local practice studio has now reopened and we will be rehearsing as a band within the next couple of weeks. This will be our first one since the lockdown in March. Just need the band members to find all their equipment after redecorating their house's and remember what it all does. At present we have two gigs booked for 2020 and these are near the end of the year and we are hopeful, but will still not be sure when we will be allowed to play for you, but be assured we will be ready and willing. Rock on and keep safe.
June
1st - As mentioned previously, we were hoping for a miracle, but that was not to be. The gig at the Riflemans Arms in Glastonbury is now off. A real shame, but we are keeping in contact with the venue and once all this current crisis is safe for us all we will there. Just remember your local public house is going to need all of our support once they reopen.
May 2020
23rd - We all hope that anyone reading this for updates on the band is safe and well. We can report, everyone in the band is pyshically and mentally fine, but this lockdown scenario is increasily difficult to work round for all of us and due to this the gig at the Talbot in Calne has been cancelled. A real shame as this would have been our first gig there. Once the UK is allowed out to play again, we will try and rebook it. Also, with the possibility of lockdown continuing to and through July, this puts the gig on the 13th of June at the Riflemans in doubt. We have told them we will keep it open for the present, just in case, but its not looking likely. But never say never.
We all knew that the gig scene was going to become static and that is not just for Hush, but any band and also the support to allow bands to play which include the venues, rehearsal studios and related shops. With social distancing and stay at home in force, Hush has been unable to practice collectivly as a unit since the lockdown came into force. This has been really hard for all. The guys have been practicing to a certain extant, but there is only so much you can do on your own and its just not the same. Ideas have been suggested to find ways of playing on line, but it wouldn't be the same. So like everyone else we will have to ride it out. As and when there is anything to report from Hushland it will be on the site.
March 2020
17th - To anyone that is reading this, we hope you are all well and safe.
Well, we knew this was probably going to happen, but can live in hope. With the UK Government lockdown still in place the gig at theThe Trout on the 18th has been cancelled, which is a real shame. We have a further gig there on the 8th August, by which time some form of noramilty may have resumed. See you soon.
March 2020
7th - With COVID19 spreading and one of the band members having had to self isolate, the decision has been taken to cancel the Salthouse in Clevedon on the 4th April. Apologies if you wrere planning to attend, but families and health are always a priority. We will also be reveiwing gigs later this year.
February 2020
23rd - At long last we have now rearranged the gig at the Riflemans in Glastonbury and have also added the Cross Keys in Hanham to the list. Please see the GIG page for further details.
23rd - As mentioned on the 7th, the last gig unfortunatly had to be cancelled at the last minute. This was due to Martin getting a return bout of Pneumonia. We are pleased to say he his on the road to recovery, but we will keep the number of gigs down over the next few months to allow him some respite.
7th - Unfortunatly, due to ill health with a member of the band the gig on the 8th February at the Riverside has had to be cancelled. Our apologies if you were planning to attend.
2nd - Apologies, to anyone looking at the frontpage of the website and seeing the next gigs date. A slight clerical error has crept in and the next gig should have read 8th February and not the 15th. So to confirm we will be at the Riverside Inn Midsomer Norton on the 8th of February and gonna rock the joint.
January 2020
28th - Saturday the 25th saw Hush's first gig of 2020 at one of their favorite venues The Queens tap in Swindon. Its been a while since we were last there and we now had two new members to help whip a storm. All we can say about the gig is that it was a real belter. The two sets played flew by and it was a lot of fun for all of us and from the reaction we got from you the audience, you must have all enjoyed it to. From all of the band our thanks to you the audience who came from far and wide to be there, the bar staff for all their help and Status Promotions for booking us. Hopefully commitments pending we will have a chance again later in the year to play again.
8th - Sad news. We have heard that on the 7th January it was announced that Neil Peart of Rush had died. A drummer in a band that has influenced musicians all over the world. Our thoughts and condolences to his family and friends.
