6th - Saturday the 3rd saw Hush celebrate their one hundred and fithtieth
gig as a band, when they decended on the Cider Press in Gloucester Road, Bristol. 2004
to 2018 where has the timevgone?! First impressions were that parking was going to be
interesting, but after a chat with the security Guys and Gals on the front door, a plan
was formulated and unloading was carried out quite swiftly and vehicles and trailers
were secured. As this was a new venue for the band the setup commenced, taking care to
get everything in the right place. Can be difficult sometimes. Everything went well and
after a couple of hours playing the evening ended with Rebel Yell, which went down well,
and that was the end to 2018 for Hush. It was nice to see some familier faces from far
and near. Our thanks to Brian Hoggans Promotions for offering this venue and to the staff
who were helpful and lastly, to you the audience for being there!
October
11th - Where is this year going? The gig on the 3rd November sees the band
at the Cider Press in Bristol and that will be the last planned gig for 2018.
This means Glenn can get fully integrated and by the New Year the numbers will
have increased so they can be dropped in and out as required to suit each venue.
As can be seen the 2019 calendar is filling up quite nicely, with a few of the bands
favourite venues on board and a couple left to confirm dates, but its still early
days. There are a few new venues that have been added to the calandar, with the
band playing its first ever gig in Wales at the Three Tuns in Chepstow. We had
nothing to do with the dropping of the Severn Bridge toll. Honest!!
September
23rd - A new venue saw Hush arrive at The Trinity in Bath, one of a handful
of traditional pubs that still put on live music. The weather and parking made
things a bit difficult getting the equiment in without getting too wet. After
a quick natter on whats going where, how many power sockets are there (never enough)
the guys made it look like a warzone as the equipment began to be set up, but it got
there. After using part of Wishing Well to set up, Tie Your Mother Down followed to
get things going. The whole evening went off with no dramas and a jolly good time
was had by all. Our thanks to the staff at The Trinity for their assistance and to
old schoolfriends and all of you who braved the weather. Hopefully we will be
invited back for 2019...
17th - The 15th saw the band decamp to The Cat and Wheel in Gloucester Road, Bristol.
This is the second time Hush have played there and even though its only been 8 months,
we were all scratching our heads to what goes where. Finally the grey matter worked and we
shoehorned in the minimal Hush backline. I think we all had a few nerves especially Glenn
being his first gig with the band, but it all settled into place and a good evening was had
by all judging by the noise the audience made. We thank you, proved all the hard work was
worth it! Our thanks to Rem and staff and hope to see you all again in 2019.
Here's to the next gig!
August
11th - The band are now gearing up for the back to back gigs in September.
The first will be The Cat and Wheel in Bristol, which we played for the first
time earlier in the year and it was a cracker and we are hoping for the same.
The following week will be at The Trinity in Bath which will be a new venue
for all the band. More details on the GIGS page.
July
22nd - Glenn's bio has now been added to the website
21st - Unfortunatly the gig at Scallys on the 18th August has been cancelled.
We are awaiting a rebook and will show on the site when known. Our apologies
if you were planning to attend.
6th - Well the auditions are finally over. After having tried several guitarists,
who were all outstanding, we have made one of the most difficult decisions
as a band and would like to introduce Glenn Banwell as the newest member of
Hush. Further details on Glenn will be on the website shortly. Now the hard
work begins!!
June
11th - The band are currently running auditions for a new guitarist, which
due to the time frame has meant that the gig at The Salthouse in Clevedon,
which we were all looking forward to has had to be cancelled. Better now than
two weeks away and find it impossible. Our apologies if you were thinking
of going.
May
8th - The band is guitarless once again. After being with the band for a
smiggen over a year, Gareth has decided to hang up his Hush T-Shirt. This
means we have to go through due process and persue the lesser spotted fret
wrangler yet again !!. With a couple of band members having family breaks,
as well as arramging auditions, we have unfortunatly had to cancel the gig
at The Trout in Keysham. A real shame as this is one of the bands favourite
venues. To anyone who was aimimg to be there our utmost apologies. Keep checking
the site for updates on the members and gig front.
April
9th - Saturday the 7th saw the band decamp to the The Red Lion at Staple
Hill. This is a brilliant live music venue, loads of space, easy access and
also under new management, so were hoping that this had been enough to start
to entice the public to frequent the pub on Saturday evenings. Unfortunatley,
this was not the case. However the band got into it and gave their all the
"crowd" that were there. Despite the lack of audience, which was
a real shame, it was still a good night and gave the band a chance to loosen
and have a bit of fun. Our thanks to Paul and staff for the welcome. A selection
of photos and a video can be found here
February
18th - The addage is you cant get a Quart into a Pint pot, but the band
proved that wrong when Hush played at the Cat and Wheel in Cheltenham Road
last night. This was a first footing for Hush at this venue and there were
lots of uming and ahing's going on with all members of the band cutting down
on equipment, but judging by the response from the audience, it was worth
it. Our thanks to Rem and staff for making us welcome and for those expecting
it, there will be some Uriah Heep in the main set list shortly !
4th -Into February and the first gig of 2018 for the band was at the Riverside
Inn at Midsomer Norton. The Riverside is one of those venues that you feel
comfy in as soon as you arrive. Lots of room to use up as quickly as possible
and banter with the prospective audience before you even play a note. After
a few technical hitch's delayed the start for which we apologise, the band
powered into the first set and the reaction was brilliant. The second set
went as well with the clientele movin and a grooving. All in all the evening
went too quickly. Our thanks to Tony and staff for having us and to you the
audience who we know travelled from far and wide .
January
25th - A few more gigs are now being entered into the diary and the bands
available dates for 2018 are fast running out. So if you would like Hush to
play for you, please get in touch.
4th - Well thats another Christmas and New Year done and dusted. For the
band this means working off the Turkey, and a return to the Studio to get
everything back up to speed ready for the first gig of 2018 at the Riverside
Inn at Midsomer Norton. It's gonna be fun !!!.
