4th - For the last gig of 2017, the band took a short trip up the M4 to
the Queens Tap in Swindon. For the John and Gareth this was their second gig
at a venue they didnt know existed. It's been a while since Hush have played
there, so the what goes where game was played to its full, but what a cracker
of a gig. The Tap is known for people coming and going during the evening
to catch trains, taxis, or just heading home, but Saturday saw a lot of coming
but not a lot of going. Our thanks to you all for being there and hope you
all had a good time. Its good for us and also the pub. Our usual thanks go
to the staff at the Queens Tap and Status Promotions for the promo work. Heres
to the next time
28th - Two more dates have been added to the 2018 diary. The Cat and Wheel
in Bristol has extended an invitation to play, which we have graciously accepted.
This will be a new venue for the band, so why not come along and support us
and your local. More details on the GIGS page
28th - Just added on the MUSIC page is a link to You Tube and the band doing
Black Night at Scallys on the 21st October
22nd - Well thats the first gig with Gareth and John on board and what a
cracker. The weather was not for the faint hearted, but you are a hardy bunch
in Weston Super Mare. Our thanks to Dawn and Kev and to everyone who ventured
out to support us and Scally's
It all still fits !!!!!!!
2nd - Sunday the 1st saw the band de-camp to Southwick Memorial Hall for
a full equipment and set check. This was the first time the band had been
let loose in a venue sized area and gave everyone a chance to check on their
own territory, sorry playing area.
Below left to right. Chris Lambert, Clive Irvine-Gizzie and John Griffiths.
Jon Rodd and Gareth Beattie were camera shy !!!
18th - You can almost smell the sea air, as the band gears up for the first
gig of this lineup at Scally's at Weston Super Mare in October. Its been a
long and winding road getting to this, but the boys are certainly up for it,
even bringing in a few numbers that have been in the songbook but not aired.
Further updates to follow with possibly the Facebook page getting an update
to bring everything under one roof.
16th - Practices are now gaining pace as Gareth and John G intregrate themselves
fully into the band. Plus we now have the first gig of 2018 on the board (see
GIGS page). If you would like Hush to play at your venue, please get in touch
as the available dates will dissappear quickly.
27th - We now have a target date for the first outing of Hush Mark ??. The
21st of October will see the band decamp to Scally's in Weston Super Mare.
New members and new songs , should be a fun evening.
16th - John Griffiths details have now been added to the website. With John
now on board, rehearsals have garthered a bit of momenteum and we are close
to getting the two 45-50mins sets we usually work to. At present the only
confirmed gig for 2017 is the one at the Queens Tap in December, but we are
now activily prospecting gigs for October onwards.
29th - We have recently learned that after several decades as one of Bristols
premier music venues The Reckless Engineer has recently had a management change
and will no longer be having live music. It will be sorely missed.
26th - As of Sunday evening the 25th, Hush now numbers 5 band members. After
several vocal auditions, which were a lot of fun and proves there are still
people out there who want to sing and not play an instrument, . one Mr John
Griffiths has graciously accepted our offer to join the band. Now the work
begins to bring everything together. Johns details plus any gig news will
be updated to the site as and when they are available.
9th - Just a quick update on where the band is .With Gareth in place, the
music is coming on leaps and bounds and getting close to the magic number
that will allow two 45 minute ish sets with a couple of numbers in reserve.
Thats the good rews. On the vocalist front, the voice of Hush is still being
hunted and the band are pushing to get it right. With the thought that even
if a singer was in place, the time to get it as wanted ready for the Queens
Tap in August would be a bridge too far. The decesion has been taken to cancel,
so they can find a replacement band.. Hopefully by the next update we may
have an annoucement!!
10th - Further on from the 5th's news, we can annonce that our new fret
wrangler is Mr Gareth Beattie . His details are now in the MEMBERS section
of the website
5th - Exciting times ahead; Hush has a new guitarist, introductions to follow.
The hunt is now on for a vocailst, if you think you may fit the bill get in
Also, utmost apologies. This is to anyone that was thinking of going to
the Reckless Engineer to see us on the 11th March. Due to the personel changes
we thought it prudent to cancel this gig at the beginning of February, but
had not updated the website to cover, sorry.
22nd - First off, thank you for the mails notifying us that we were still
in 2016 on the last news posting. This has now been amended!
Back to Hushland. The search for a guitarist and vocalist continues. Over
the last few months we have auditioned some very talented people and are hoping
we can make a decision after the current run of auditions is completed. We
dont want to put the band back out gigging if we aren't 100% happy with the
end product, so are in no rush at present to finalise the finished product.
Hush has a good reputation on the local music scene and we all want it to
be as good as if not better, so it will take as long as it takes.
2nd - Unfortunatly, the end of the year ended on several low notes in the
music world, with Rick Parfitt of Status Quo and George Michael joining Heavens
Super Group. All our thoughts are with their friends and families.
In Hushland, Dave has annouced his departure from the band. Dissappointing
for the band, but In his new venturet we all wish him well. After a brief
conflab, Chris, Clive and Jon have decided that now is not the time to bow
out and are actively seeking first of all a guitarist and then a vocalist,
unless they can find a singer who plays lead guitar. Onwards and upwards.
If you are a singer or guitarist at a loose end, please get in touch
via the CONTACTS page.
